HHI partnered with OHSU and Knight Cancer Research to provide solutions for the 320,000-square-foot Knight Cancer Research Building in Portland, Oregon. Named after Nike co-founder Phil Knight, who donated $500 million for research, the $190 million building will house 550 researchers from across the globe.
The Knight Cancer Research Building is a state-of-the-art research facility aimed at early detection and will house biological data experts and specialists in immuno-oncology. Haldeman Homme was brought in early in the planning phase, allowing our design engineering team to find the right product solution to keep the laboratory portion of the project running smoothly.
The Knight Cancer Research ownership team selected HHI for our project approach and team experience. HHI worked closely with Jacobs engineering, the owner, SRG, and Anderson/McCarthy Contractors from start to finish. As a partner from the start, HHI was able to use BIM and Virtual Engineering to keep our phase of the project on time and within budget.
The new state-of-the-art building is a collaboration space for the world's leading cancer research experts. The final project was officially certified as LEED Platinum by the U.S. Green Building Council, the most widely used green building rating system in the world
